At the start of 2015 Sportsbeat were commissioned by Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby, to produce a short film promoting the 2015 Arctic Challenge.
An attempt to complete the most northerly game of rugby ever played at the magnetic North Pole, the expedition would be led by experienced Arctic explorer Jock Wishart and former England international rugby players Tim Stimpson and Ollie Phillips.
We spent a day filming with Wooden Spoon in Ogmore, Wales, in late January. Our brief was to capture footage of the teams preparing for their trip during a training weekend, as well as interviews with the celebrities and sponsors taking part to drive fundraising and raise the profile of the people taking part.
As well as filming all the action, we were also the event’s photography partner, shooting profile shots of every member of the team and syndicating content far and wide to regional and national newspapers and magazines, websites and broadcasters.
We produced a dynamic, engaging film that Wooden Spoon were able to use to power their fundraising drive, as well as promote the expedition – the most ambitious project in the charity’s history – in the media.
Our content was featured widely throughout the rugby and adventure sports media, appearing everywhere from ITV Central to MailOnline and beyond.
