A dip in the Serpentine

Like most people involved in sports media, we’re all frustrated sportspeople ourselves, although we didn’t think swimming in the Serpentine was ever an ambition until now.

Last weekend Sportsbeat had a four-man crew at the first Swim Serpentine, a new two-day open water swimming festival staged in the heart of London and organised by London Marathon events Ltd.

It was incredible to see thousands of swimmers taking part in an open water mass participation event around the beautiful Serpentine in Hyde Park, which was the venue for the open water swimming competition at the 2012 Olympic games.

We were providing the organisers with a video news service, producing short form video content to drive their marketing and promotional activities ahead of next year’s event on their digital and social platforms, as well as syndicating content to national and regional news and sports media.

Having worked on the Virgin Money London Marathon, Prudential RideLondon and Swim Serpentine we are now excited to take on what could be a unique London triathlon – although working at those events is probably the only challenge that is more fun!
